Privacy Policy
How Baby Growly handles your data, what leaves your phone, and what is never done with any of it.
Last updated 8 September 2026. This policy covers the Baby Growly Android app and this website.
What you put in
A baby’s name, date of birth, sex, gestational age at birth and birth measurements. Your own first name and your role, so shared entries can say who made them. Then the entries themselves, which are of six kinds: breastfeeding, bottle, pumping, sleep, nappies and measurements. Some entries carry a free-text note if you add one.
Where it is kept
On your phone, first and always. Every entry is written to an encrypted database on the device the moment you make it, which is why the app works with no connection. Nothing waits on a network round trip.
If you create an account, entries also sync to our backend, which runs on Supabase, so the same baby appears on the phones of the people you invited. In guest mode nothing syncs anywhere: the data exists only on that one phone.
Who else can see it
Only people you invite. An invite carries a role and an expiry date, and the invite code is shown to you once and stored only as a hash, so it cannot be read back out of the database later. You can see everyone with access, and remove any of them, at any time. Every entry records which caregiver made it.
What reaches the AI, and who runs it
When a daily insight is generated, or you ask one of the questions in the Ask sheet, the only things that leave your phone are figures the app has already computed and an age band — totals, averages, counts. Your baby’s name, your notes and your individual entries are not sent.
Those figures go to a function on our own backend, which calls Google’s Gemini API to write the sentence. The API key lives on the server and is never shipped inside the app. What comes back is checked against the same figures before you see it, and an answer that fails the check is discarded rather than corrected. The questions are a fixed list, and the app sends the question’s identifier rather than any words you typed.
Things that stay on your phone entirely
Reminders never sync. Which phone should chime is a decision about a device, not a record about a baby — a father on nights and a grandparent who visits on Tuesdays want different reminders — so reminders are stored locally with no server copy at all.
Growth percentiles are worked out on the device. The World Health Organization Child Growth Standards tables ship inside the app, so a measurement is never sent anywhere to be scored.
The doctor summary is built on the device. The one-page PDF is generated locally, handed to your phone’s share sheet, and the exported file is deleted afterwards.
What is never done
Nothing is sold or rented. Nothing is advertised: there is no ad network in the app, and no analytics or tracking SDK either. Your entries are not used to build a profile of you, are not shared with data brokers, and are not used to train anybody’s model. No feature is held back behind a payment.
Photos
The app deliberately does not attach photos to entries. Photo support was built and then removed, because it could not sync and a picture kept only here would be a picture missing from the library you actually back up.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any entry, remove a baby and everything recorded against it, and revoke a caregiver’s access. Signing out wipes the local database from that phone. To have an account and its server-side data deleted, email us and we will confirm when it is done.
About the child’s data
Baby Growly is for adults. The information in it is about a child but it is entered by you, and you decide who else sees it. We do not knowingly let anyone under 18 create an account, and we do not ask a child for anything.
Third parties we rely on
Supabase hosts the account, the synced database and the function described above. Google receives the computed figures when a sentence is generated, through the Gemini API. Nobody else receives app data.
This website
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies and holds no database of its own. If you join the waitlist, your email address is passed to the provider we use to hold the list and is used for one thing: telling you when the app is available.
Changes
If what the app does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Material changes will be told to you in the app rather than only posted here.
